Program Overview
The College Now program provides a means for institutions to work
together to "prepare students for a lifetime of learning"
while encouraging postsecondary education by providing articulated
courses in the high schools. The program is also responsible for
coordinating the articulated credit between the colleges and the
high schools while providing necessary resources to make this articulation
possible. Resources and activities provided for schools include
resource materials, software, software upgrades, teacher and counselor
workshops, technology training, plant tours, internships,
job shadowing, campus tours, career fairs, and guest speakers.
In addition to working with students and school
districts, the consortium also provides work-based learning by working
with business and industry in the |

county to encourage opportunities
for preparing the workforce of tomorrow. These business partners provide
plant tours, job shadowing experiences, teacher internships, guest
speakers, and participate in career fairs for the school districts
in the consortium. The success of the College Now program depends
on a collaborative effort between the postsecondary and secondary
institutions, parents and students, business and industry partners,
the local advisory committee, area Chambers of Commerce, and the Arkansas
Department of Workforce Education.
